Web platform designed to share, develop, use, and access to existing in-house software for scientific and industrial studies.

Benefits

  • Easy access to industrial computer codes
  • No need to invest in computing equipments and / or annual licenses
  • Very quick setup time (<1 day)
  • Access to a marketplace for software developers
  • Capitalize on own in-house software

Issue

The software developed for specific scientific uses are expensive. Moreover those available on the market are designed for a general use and may be not usable for particular applications in many scientific areas (Physical Fields: mechanics & materials, thermo-dynamic, thermal-hydraulic, electromagnetism, electronics / Life Sciences: biotech, medical / Applied Mathematics: complex systems, data science / ...).

This is the reason why thousands of companies develop or adapt their own in-house softwares. However other companies do not have access to these softwares which could be valuable for other uses.

Turning thousands of these in-house tools available for other companies would allow:

- in-house computer code developers to exploit their assets, making additional revenues;

- any company using scientific tools to access to tailor-made software for specific applications.

Solution

In order to capitalize on its Know-how in software development, but also to know and use new software at the cutting edge of technology ; EDF (the main French utilities company) wants to develop a “cloud computing”, SaaS platform dedicated to scientific and industrial studies:

- Offering a direct access to thousands existing software developed for 30 years by EDF and others companies,

- Enabling to adapt existing or developing new software;

- Easing the delivering of specific studies with specific data script and software;

- Centralizing the computational simulation software and experts in a web marketplace.

4 types of services are considered:

- 'Ready Made': offers a direct access to existing software;

- 'Tailor Made': adapts existing or developing new software;

- 'Sewing Shop': delivers specific studies with dedicated data scripts;

- 'Haute Couture': digital simulation framework.

This platform will be secured, ergonomic and available 24h/24h 7d/7. With the agreement of each user, the platform enables to share studies, scripts, to create user-groups, and the cross-evaluation and support on studies.
